Micromanagement Skillz
Submitted by Shawn_Connery

First off I would just like to say that if you don't know the hotkeys, go and learn them. Here I am gonna tell you how to use hotkeys and basacally improve your micro skills. And on we go:

Chapter one: the F buttons (go ahead, make your jokes)

Almost no one uses these. You have 3 basic zones that you are going to want to assign to them. They are VERY usefull and can turn the tides of battles in your favor.

F2 should be your peon line. When you have completed your peon line you can move this to your opponents choke point, so you can check his d and stuff. I'll explain that later. Ok, you are going to want to set the F2 button to your peon line so you can constantly check for and slackers that just got created and you didn't send them to work. Just hit F2 every once and a while and check, just to make sure nothin is wrong.

F3 should be set to your choke point. Everybody knows this is where a lot of action happens. When you see a little red flash and try to hit spacebar, half the time it goes to your peon line/factories because something just got made. So you can hit F3. This is just about the most important key there is if you aren't on the offense.

F4 is an option one. You can either set it up to your partners base, or if you are constantly attacking, your opponents base. You can either check out what your partner is doing or attack your opponent and have a key to get to the screen fast.

F2, when you switch it to your opponents choke, is important. When you are attacking and you see he doesn't have any detectors, you can cloak your units/burrow, or you can psi storm/plauge/emp. USE this!

Chapter 2: The numbers are very important. You should assign your number 1 to your nexus/command center/hatchery so you can easily make peons.

The number 0 should always be assigned to a detector! A satcom/obersver/overlord! So you don't have to look for it when you see cloaked units. And most importantly, attack with detectors!

The rest of your units should be sorted by numbers. Do not mix. You can't stimpack your marines if you have medics grouped with them. Also, make sure any cloakable units are in their own group!

Make sure to set your units up at your choke so if you think things are going to get uglier than creepcoly's background then you can burrow/cloak/run the hell away.

Chapter 3: The spacebar

The spacebar will take you back to the last minimap ping. Whenever you see a minimap ping hit it. It may be a peon, it may be 25 battlecruisers, or it may be..well..whatever. Whenever you have nothing to do it fun to just keep hitting it and see where it takes you.

Chapter 5: Why I skipped Chapter 4

I know that title made no sense but its late and I am tired, so shut up. This chapter is about actuall battles. When fighting with meele attackers, just tell them to attack behind the other units, and they should fan themselves out and attack in general. When attacking with ranged attacks, hold shift and start right clicking units so they take them out one at a time. I hate turned battles where I was outnumbered like 20 to 12 and I won. Hydra wars can be won if you are microing and he is not.

Chapter 6: Oh please, make it stop

Sending messages are important. I normally just turn ally chat on, but if you hold shift and hit enter, you can send a message to everybody. Send a message to everybody saying: I am goin gardians. Then say, of course I have ally chat on. Then go Hydras. Anyways, just make sure you are sending messages to the right people.

Alright, I hope this helps you, but probably not. Remember to always: Recon, attack with detectors/have detectors, and harass computer stompers. BTW: my aim screen name is knoxvillisagod (hey is) so IM me if you want.
