Lurker Backdoor

How I discoverd it: I first learned this tactic when I was in a single player game against the computer. I saw a bunch of Hydralisks comming my way, but of corse they were just massing as computers usually do before they attack. I noticed that the comp would burrow one hyda, move the next one on top of it, burrow it, then repeat the process again and again. I wondered what the heck it was doing so I did a comsat on the area to see. To my amazement I only found one hole. So I sent a wraith to see what was up. When it got there, suddenly out of one hole popped 6 Hydralisks. So I figured, if the comp can do this trick, so can I. Once I had it figured out, I did it every now and then on the origional Zerg campaign but it was only a way of hiding numbers - which doesnt work against computers anyways. It wasn't until the following year that Brood War came out and I applied this strategy to Lurkers. Then, VIOLA!!!! The ultimate stationary Zerg defense!! So I started using it against my clan members (The Insane Marine Corps) and it worked like a charm. Tired of me babbling? Okay here is how to do it:
How to do it: Start off by burrowing your first Lurker. Got him where you want him? Good! Ok now select a second Lurker. Now Right-Click just above the first lurker's hole. Do not actually click the hole, but RIGHT above it.
Once the second Lurker moves into position above the first Lurker's hole, right click on the actual hole itself. The Lurker will assume you have given it the follow command and will actually begin to follow the First Lurker. This second Lurker will then move Directly on top of the First Lurker's hole. This can be tricky, so if it doesn't work the first time keep trying. It is very important that he is Directly on top of the First Lurker's hole - not beside it or below it or what ever.
Once the second Lurker is directly on top of the first Lurker's hole assign the burrow command. The second Lurker will then burrow in the same hole as the first Lurker and only one hole will be visible. Since there is only one hole, enemies are not able to attack each lurker seperatly. The damage is distributed among the two Lurkers while at the same time both lurkers are free to attack any target they choose. It is quite effective and will confuse the tar out of your enemies.
You can burrow as many Lurkers on top of each other as you like, but the damage will only be distributed to a maximum of four Lurkers. One will gradually absorb more damage than the other three, so eventually one of them will die before the others. Enough Lurkers burrowed together will completely halt any troop movement in a specific area. Trust me, My clan and I have tested this strategy to the extreme. Four or Five lurkers burrowed together have been able to stop attack waves of 24 Ultralisks, 34 Hydralisks and millions of Zealoats, Dragoons and Archons. Psi Storm will still take it's toll. Medics will also only be able to blind ONE Lurker even if you use optical flare more than once, so the others will still spot for it. Stasis Field will sometimes capture all of the Lurkers, but rarely ever. Like I said earlier eventually they will die one by one, but unless you're testing them under the extreme conditions that we were, you should have no problem circulating fresh Lurkers for the injured ones.
Now remember, These Lurkers are still only Lurkers. So Siege Tanks and air units will be able to blast through them when spotted. Be careful of these situations. Also, untill you get really good at this process it will take a little bit of time. It's not exactly something I would try to do in the middle of a raging battle. Besides, of you do that then you might accidently teach the enemy how to do it, right? We can't have any of that now can we...?
Quick Tip - If you're really smart, you'll use this strategy to defend choke points in your base. Our testing has concluded that 3 lurkers burrowed together is sufficient to stop most attack waves sent by enemies. But dont rely on only one set of burrowed lurkers to defend a major choke point. Use two groups of burrowed lurkers close to each other. Also, be sure to back them up with Hydrlisks for air defense and other units for artillery defense. If you do this correctly you wont need any sunken colonies at all, even when fighting large odds of comps - however it's always smart to keep a few colonies around for those unwanted surprises. In older versions (when BW first came out) even nukes would only kill one Lurker at a time - which made it REALLY interesting. However, this was soon fixed and nukes now kill all of them at once. Bummer Dude.
CreepColony's Opinion: I wouldn't recommend doing this, because it wastes time and things with splash damage, like tanks, reavers, and psi storm, will completely own your lurkers.
