Default Player Colors

I wonder how player colors will be handled in multiplayer? As for customization, I will want individual RGB sliders so you can create any shade of color you want, then the game engine will shade your buildings that color. This would work if building textures were grayscale. What would you want it to be like?

you set the positions in "teams" for the editor.But if you want colors like gray,(as u were saying)get scmdraft.

Well. Scmdraft DOES have different colours, but it doesnt have a way to make your own colours.


Shame really. I have absolutley NO idea how you would do this, apart from hacking a system.

rgb sliders=not a good idea, imo

Otherwise, if two players get a similar color, or a color that doesn't show up well on the minimap, well, there'd be some problems.

Yeah, Blizzard could make it so that players can't choose within this many units from a certain shade, so colors are different enough, but on the whole, it's so much easier to just have a pool of 18 colors and let everyone fight over them.

RGB Sliders would be neat and all, but I agree with Townsend that that could end badly. I've never played sand castle wars either, but I'm assuming it has many or all players that are the same player color. Works in some situations, but if you were playing a melee game and you see a shitload of the same color all over the map, you would have to spend more time looking at the map than glancing at the mini map.

Especially if Mind Control is still in. Don't want to get confused with one player controlling two species and thinking it's two people. (Even if you can push Alt+D and see the player list).

Maybe a way to get through same colors in game is to make uo a letter for teams.Lets say,Force 1 is A.Force 2 is B.Force 3 is C.And force 4 is D.
So if you are all Red and you hear this:
Anime-Rogue9000: (C)Yall swarm base A!
You know it is this:
Force 3:Swarm Base A!
and what's likely to happen next is:
SuperToaster: (A)

or, you can keep that option for soley UMS games. That would avoid confusion in regular matches but be insanely useful in UMS. They should also have a pool of colors in addition to the sliders. This doesn't should hard, and the mini-map wont be a problem. SCI may have messed it up because it was old and wasn't meant for that. Here, it will be intentionally. This is very feasible.
