just been bored with my game selection recently and decided to hop on over to my nearest video game store to try and pick up a game

but i usually get disappointed with its selection and/or see a game I think ill like but dont know much about besides whats on the backing

so does anybody out there know of a good online game purchase site or a good review site for games?

i know of ign.com and game spot.com and all that but im looking for a site where i can type in...say...rpg and itll bring up all the rpgs of a certain game system and their reviews of it

im a BIG rpg fan but have found a big lack of selection as of recent with the ps2 and the xbox more so, i know they arent going to come out with any new games but i know theres a lot i havent purchased and probably dont know about(and please dont mention KOTOR, FABLE, DARKCLOUD) anyone know of any good ones? i kind of like games with the seriousness of morrowwind elder scrolls(but not so indepth as in 200 hrs of game play)and i dont like kiddish cartoon rpgs like dragon quest. a great game was kotor i played that 6 times over and dark alliance liek old school diablo feels but a little more updated then a shitty dungeon scroller

Well, I know you said not to mention Darkcloud, but have you tried the 2nd one? I myself find it to be really good.
A playthrough can normally take....probably about 40-50 hours if you avoid all the extra stuff inbetween.

Also, Star Ocean Til the End of Time is good if you don't mind the good replay value it can give. 4 difficulty levels each of which keeps getting harder and harder until the enemies get 3X as powerful. A regular playthrough without going through the Post-Game part is usually 40-50 hours, maybe a little longer. If you decide to do the Post-Game, one playthrough can span to over 100 hours, and thats not even on the hardest difficulty. The hardest can probably last up to 150 hours.
Plus, with 4 independent characters to add to your permanent party it can add some replay value as well.(What I mean is, having a party of required characters and having 2 empty slots which you can fill using 2 of the 4 optional people)

<span style='font-family:trebuchet ms'>Final Fantasy X and XII are good, XII if you prefer things more like Baldurs gate Dark Alliance.

One of my all time favorite strategy RPGs is Front Mission 4. The storyline is ok, but the gameplay requires a lot of strategy. Gameplay is something like 40 hours at least if you don't want to barely squeak by on beating each mission.

Other than Dark Alliance and Gauntlet Dark Legacy (terrible game my brother bought) I have no other RPGs on the ps2. No xbox either.</span>

You just have Xbox and PS2 right? So I can't mention Mass Effect or Oblivion?

Jade Empire was pretty sweet for Xbox.

As for sites, I don't need any more besides IGN, Gametrailers.com, and Game Informer magazine. Those are the only media I'm familiar with.

I would suggets Baldur's gate Shadows of Amn but sadly that is the version for the computer and the all around best ownage Baldur's gate game ever!
It is Surprisingly similar to Kotor except it was made first and is even better!!! Muwhahahah!

Yeah i cant help to much on the Xbox and PS2 RPGS, those consoles are becoming Dinosuars so I cant htink of any new ones.

Sorry Narc, I really have nothin on this. *Once I hit up the ps2 and xbox, I mainly stuck to fps's. *The only one's that I know are pretty good that I have played have already been mentioned which are FFX and star ocean which are both for the ps2.

However, if you want to play a fun fps, you could always try out time splitters 2 for the ps2/xbox/game cube (xbox version might have faster load times, but if so it isn't by much). *Anyways, if you liked perfect dark, the you'll probably like this. *Check out the link for more info - http://ps2.ign.com/objects/016/016581.html

I see Reap beat me to my 2 most favourite games for PS2: Star Ocean and DC2.

Both are great games... but I found DC2 to be quite short... and easy considering I had a sword with 150 attack 20% into the game (AKA Lamb Sword... that thing is a good sword, kind of annoying at times when it doesn't change though at that time). Star Ocean is a freaking great game. I havn't beaten it so I can't tell you how long it is. But, the game is simple (for the most part) very addicting, and hella fun.

I've only died once, and that was because fiends teamed 1 of my characters before I could use symbology, and then they went on to Cliff... and finaly Fayt.

I can't wait till I get Albel in my party, but when and how do I get him in there, permanently? All I know is you get him in your party for a little while, he leaves, and than you get him permanently at soem point in the game.

Rightnow im going to the Sealed Cavern to get Aquios's orb thingy. I hate that place... before this it took me 5 hrs to find my fucking way through it... even longer for the stupid training facility by Kirlsa the first time. This time I made sure that it's going to be easy, as I only explored the way I actually have to go.

Narco, I recommend Star Ocean 3 (or SOTET for short) to you. It's very stratagetical. Make sure to get the Directors cut though, without it you cant get Adray or use Mirage (2 characters that you couldn't do things in the game without the Directors Cut version). Anyways, I hope you get it...

You'l get addicted to it fast once you learn how to fight. And, if your a person who doesn't read the manuals, this time it's a good idea. In combat, there wasn't things I knew intill awhile ago when I got bored and read the manual.

Darkcloud 2 is fun too, I own that game an it's first one: DarkCloud. I think the first was longer than the second, but has less features. As for SO1, or 2, I cant tell you becauseI' never seen/heard/played them. SOTET is great though.
