Siege Tank for StarCraft 2

Blizzard has just announced the release of a brand new terran unit for the upcoming StarCraft 2. I’m actually quite impressed by it, but have a look for yourselves:

Originally designed to serve as a “final defense” security cannon, the siege tank adopted a two-stage configuration in its final form: a mobile assault mode and a deployed siege mode that brought its massive shock cannon to bear. The immense flexibility of an armored battle tank that could advance and then deploy itself as heavy artillery was a huge success, and the design was widely copied.

Looks pretty good to me. What do you think?

New Unit Released? The Terran Nomad

“It appears that Blizzard has finally released a new unit: the Terran Nomad. I’m not sure if alpha players had the chance to use them, but regardless, the Nomad seems to take the place of the Science Vessel. While the Nomad is a detector, it can construct an auto-turret while maintaining its hover (it does not specify whether it may move during the process, but it appears that it cannot.) The auto-turret can be deployed on command. This small ground turret can give the extra push a few marines may need or be key in holding off a small expansion from a couple of basic units. However, the turret seems small and unlikey to compare to a solid defense plan with bunkers and tanks and such. The auto-turret is also speculated to have an “extended period of time” when deployed. It is unlcear whether the turret runs on a limited amount of energy, limited amount of ammunition, or simply stays until destroyed.

By deploying its two aft-mounted nano-welders, the nomad can construct a variety of small, semi-permanent defensive structures to meet various threats in a matter of moments.

A small tactic I have been thinking of is deploying a few of these behind or inside enemy mineral patches, quickly disposing of miners.”

Blizzard confirms new MMO underway

This may be late news, but according to GamesIndustry.biz, a Blizzard employee announced that Blizzard is working on a future MMO.

After 7 years, the oldest StarCraft fan site has finally made it’s mark. I guess that recent contest really paid off, cause we really accomplished something we’ve been trying to do for a long long time.

If you go to Google.com, and search up ‘StarCraft‘, you’ll see that CreepColony is listed on the very front page at #8! For the people out there that are wondering what the big deal is anyways, to rank on the first page for a search term like ‘StarCraft’ is HUGE. So what does this mean? It means that we’re still growing as a community, and results can be seen.

Basically, the one StarCraft site that is not directly affiliated with Blizzard, that ranks higher than us is StarCraft2.org. They are number 5, but have been like that for quite some time now. It’s very likely that we can outrank them in the shortest amount of time if only we all put some effort into this.

So how can you help? Easy. The more links coming in to CreepColony.com from other websites, the better and higher we rank. So, if you are a member of a forum, or own a website of your own, be sure to have a link back to CreepColony.com with the title text, ‘StarCraft’. Adorable SC2 Comics

I was checking my Netvibes reader earlier today when I came across this terrifically boring audio interview by Starfeeder with the creators of FFTComics. The interview sucks, seriously, but the comics are great. The artist’s style reminds me of classic wacky Japanese animation and is really high caliber. They actually have a fairly large inventory of comics and they plan to continue developing a new comic every week. Check them out when you get a chance.

To be fair, Starfeeder is a great SC2 blog, I just thought the interview was super yawn.

It’s been a while since the last update, so I’m sure you’re good and hungry.

Hydralisks ran away with the previous poll with an overwhelming majority of the votes. One of the most versatile units in StarCraft, the Hydralisk lost some of its luster with the release of Brood War when many people began to use it as just a stepping stone to the Lurker. It remains, however, one of the most badass looking units in the SC universe.

The next poll asks Who Do You Want to See Bite it? One of the main characters in SC2 has to die. Which one do you want it to be?
