Allied Comps

We have been up against StarCraft's AI occasionally. Sometimes we would go against it. Thanks to the StarCraft v1.08 patch, it can be on our side.

The computer can do a good job of acting as a distraction for enemy players, whether it's allied or not. However, if it is allied with you, this shouldn't be a problem. If you are preparing a 4v4 game, and you need one more teammate, it's worth assigning the AI to the task, even if it does suck.

The computer can be a good distraction, and cannon fodder. The enemy might waste all of his or her resources and men to kill the computer off while you or/and your allies can attack the enemy players.

There is one bane to this boon: the computer can't do shit to help you directly. Also, you'll have to hit expansion quicker than your computer ally, or you'll run out of resources (unless you're on a money map) so expand quickly. The computer can do some of your dirty work, but enemy players might have the advantage of smarts. Even though the AI sucks helping you, it can do the benefits of being from a distractically annoying to deadly nuisance.

You can also help the computer, although this is unesscessary, you can help build up its defences, but it's a waste of your own money. If you're a Protoss and you have a computer ally of a different race, you can Mind Control it's worker unit and make your own army of Zerg or Terran minions! If you're Zerg, you can infest your computer's Command Center if he's Terran, and you'll have Infested Terrans at your disposal. You can do this with human allies, but this requires communication.

Well, that's it for the strategies, the advantages and the disadvanteges of the computer. Remember, if you're feeling nice, don't enlist the services of the computer. However, if you're feeling evil, you can outnumber your enemy with three computer allies while he is alone, letting the computer take the brunt of the aggression while you provide the final blow.

One final note: You can only have computer allies in Top Vs. Bottom games, included on the v1.08 patch. Good luck on your conquest!

CreepColony's Opinion: Comps are good for wearing down your opponent's defense. Also, I wouldn't recommend infesting their command center, because if you attack it, the comp will fight back.
